Who is Brian?
Brian has a PhD in Cancer Biology. For the last 3 years he has been doing research as a Post-doctoral fellow in San Diego. He often wonders why the about pages of blogs are written in the 3rd person when they’re clearly written by the author and will therefore stop after this question.

So you have no formal training in finance?
No, everything I’ve learned has been from books or websites. But my strategy for investing in startup biotechs relies heavily on finding companies with good drugs or platforms, so finances are less important. The most important thing is that they can get to market before the money runs out.

Why are you writing this blog?
I have to do the due diligence for my own investments anyway, so it really only costs me the time to write it up. Plus I’m looking for a job away from the bench, so you can think of this as a giant job interview that you get to benefit from. Only if you’re much better at picking the stocks than I am.

Well that’s actually not a question, but I am sorry about your loss. Actually, if you’re following my advice, then I lost money too, so I’m really sorry about your loss. You can try e-mailing nooneanswersthis@babybiotechs.com to complain, but my experience is that it won’t do much good. All I can say is that the advice you got was worth what you paid for it, but I’ll be happy to refund it all.

Will you do a review of XYZ stock?
If you ask nicely in an e-mail, I’ll probably do it; the timing will depend on how interested I am in the company. If you fill out the information in the section one of my analysis, I’ll be more likely to do it since that’s the most tedious part of the analysis.
